Booking a reasonably priced hotel room in any tropical climate during the winter holidays can be tricky, and South Florida is not an exception. Most South Florida visitors reserve rooms months in advance to secure a prime spot and avoid paying an arm and a leg to sleep in a closet miles from the action.
Regular visitors to South Florida may want to consider investing in their own Miami Beach condo (to use and rent out) considering that every year good hotel rooms are harder to find as people flock to the region and prices continue to rise.
In 2013, hotel occupancy in Miami-Dade County increased despite the fact that average daily rates rose significantly. In December hotels were particularly busy, with revenue per room soaring past last year’s numbers.
Obviously, this is great news for the economy in South Florida. If the hotels are full, then the surrounding restaurants and bars are full, as well as the malls, shops, and local boutiques. This spending injects money into the economy, which then stimulates additional investment and development. Things are looking good in South Florida!
