We’re becoming fans of confidence indices, especially since most of the ones we’ve read up on lately involve a positive outlook for real estate across the nation, and particularly, in South Florida. The most recent confidence index we liked stems from a monthly survey the National Association of Realtors distributes to tens of thousands of real estate agents throughout the country. Those agents expect positive gains to home values. In fact, home prices are expected to increase by as much as 5 percent.
In addition, most agents anticipate that such gains will occur at a moderate pace, which we think is a good thing. It’s best if we do everything in moderation, right? We don’t want to see extreme increases or declines in home prices or market activity. Let’s face it, such extremes have taken the real estate market down a very precarious path. We’re optimistic about the steady pace at which the Miami real estate market has improved and would like to see that sustainable direction continue.
