The Brickell area, which is part of Downtown Miami, has so much to offer businesses and resident
s. It is filled with luxury, high-rise condominiums, as well as shops, restaurants, and bars. Brickell is also the business hub in Miami, particularly for the banking industry. In fact, it is one of the largest financial districts in the United States, with a number of international banks housed all along Brickell Avenue.
The Brickell area is one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in all of Miami. Developers are rapidly adding to the supply of Brickell condos in order to keep up with the pace of its exploding population. As more residents move into the area, dining, shopping, and entertainment options are likely to expand as well. Currently, there aren’t tons of retail options in the area. There isn’t even a major department store serving that location. Fortunately, the Brickell City Centre project will change that.
According to a description of the project, the City Centre will house 5.4 million square feet of office, residential, hotel, retail, and entertainment space, as well as an underground parking garage. The Miami Beach company Whitman Family Development, the company that is expanding the luxurious Bal Harbour Shops, is actually working on bringing a luxury department store to the City Centre to anchor the west end of the project. Although the company has not specified which store it will be, it will be along the lines of Harrod’s or Saks Fifth Avenue, both of which offer extremely high-end shopping experiences. It is also possible that a second department store will be added, such as Bloomingdale’s or Nordstrom, stores that are a bit more mainstream and often found at nice malls across the country.
In addition to adding retail, the developers are looking to include several fine dining options, a wellness center, and a luxury movie theater. Obviously, residents of Brickell will benefit from the convenience of this massive center, which should be completed in 2015 or 2016, but its construction will also create jobs and increase tax revenue for the city. Overall, the project is expected to have a $1 billion economic impact!
