The similarities between New York and Miami continue to grow. Luxury real estate shoppers in both markets are demanding more and more. Upscale amenities such as rooftop gardens, elevators for cars, and butler services aren’t enough to attract buyers anymore. Now, luxury shoppers are expecting art and real estate. Apparently, the luxury shopper is knowledgeable about art and factors it into the home buying process. Plus, when you’re being asked to plunk down millions of dollars for a luxury condominium in Miami that you’ve only seen in glossy photographs, it’s reasonable to anticipate a few creative perks thrown into the transaction.
As a result of this recent phenomenon, developers in both cities are turning to high-end art consultants and dealers to find artists who can create original works of art for buyers, design aesthetically pleasing sales offices, or provide other insight into the pieces that can be used to enhance the appeal of a building. Although some real estate professionals are critical, claiming it is gimmicky marketing, art and real estate complement each other well. For many people, a huge part of the home buying process is imagining how to transform a space into a home that reflects an individual’s taste and preferences. Even if expensive art isn’t the focus, most people add their individual touches to their living spaces to make them familiar and welcoming. Obviously, for some people the design process includes hanging works of art, whether high-end or otherwise.
In light of the luxury real estate craze, it’s wise for developers and sales teams to up the ante in order to stand out from the competition. Of course, every luxury project cannot turn into a museum and adding diverse elements is just as important as adding competitive ones. Regardless of the angle, it’s nice to see people employing more creativity in the real estate market.
