As most of you probably know there has been a recent Nation wide cry to provide better aid to our struggling veterans, who have found that programs intended to support them have been poorly implemented and ineffective.
People who risk their lives to secure the safety of our country often upon their return discover themselves struggling to keep up with their mortgage or even find a home they can afford. Rather than leaving our servicemen and women out in the cold, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has joined forces with the National League of Cities to provide affordable housing to homeless veterans across the country. This marks the latest advancement in the Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness as proposed by the First Lady in June 2014, and so far over 255 US states, counties, and cities, including Miami, have pledged their commitment to end veteran homelessness through the Veterans First Program.
The initiative, uses federal, state, local, and non-profit resources in order to target the veterans within the community who are homeless or living in inadequate housing situations and provide them with both temporary and permanent solutions. It focuses on the most vulnerable veterans first and works with the community to provide relief while also making preventative services more readily available in order stop the problem from perpetuating.
We are proud to count ourselves among the companies who have dedicated their services to our brave Patriots whom served and continue to serve our country through the Veterans First Program, and we look forward to helping our community heroes to find homes they can be safe and comfortable in.
