Brazil recently topped the charts as the foreign country that searched most for Miami real estate during the month of January. The Miami Association of Realtors recorded this finding as part of their regular market report, and it predicts a future shift that may come about during the next few months as a result of the current economic downturn going on in Europe. South American countries are quickly becoming more economically powerful, and are investing in luxury real estate in increasingly large numbers as a result. Following Brazil on the list was Colombia, which jumped three spots compared to last year’s numbers, then Russia and fourthly Venezuela. This report reflects the growing interest from South American buyers in Miami real estate as the city continues to gain a worldwide reputation for glamorous nightlife and luxurious properties.
Interest in Miami overall has grown as well, with the association reporting a 40% increase from last year’s result in the amount of searches done about South Florida real estate. This is an effect of the area’s growing international appeal, as Miami residential president Christopher Zoller stated recently “The Miami real estate market continues to attract buyers and investors from around the world. Miami remains affordable compared to other world-class, global cities and offers many benefits and amenities, including strategic location, moderate year-round weather, multicultural environment, and an exciting lifestyle.” The city is gaining attention on a global scale and becoming known as a hub for both business and pleasure, with foreign investors clamoring to invest in South Florida’s luxury real estate while it is on the rise. South American countries in particular are seizing the opportunity, as they are also drawn by the strong Latino presence in the area and it’s convenient location. South Florida properties are gaining international status, and now is the time to invest in the growing market.
