This year the organizers of the event made safety a priority given the high-risk nature of music festivals, and implemented an 18 and over age restriction in order to reduce underage drinking and cut back on dangerous drug use. Other tactics employed this year included an increased amount of rescue workers stationed at the event and the employment of ‘festival ambassadors’ to help guide and assist attendees. The result was a large reduction in the amount of arrests and injuries at the festival in comparison to years past, which both the Miami Police Department as well as concertgoers were naturally very pleased by.
