Are you addicted to email? Do you check it first thing in the morning? If a recent study by Adobe is accurate, your answer is yes.
If you are in the professional world, you probably spend even more time on email. However, you probably also use email to quickly and efficiently connect with your family and friends too. Your email is probably one of the first things you tend to when you wake up.
Adobe studied 400 interviews with U.S. white-collar workers and the Adobe’s Digital Index, which analyzed 17 billion visits coming from e-mail.
On average, respondents spend 6.3 hours per weekday tending to their email. A little more than half (3.2) of these hours are spent checking work email, and 3.1 on personal email. Work days do not affect the type of email checked- respondents admitted they check personal email at work and check their work email when at home.
Thirty percent of respondents said they check their email when they are still in bed.
The study also showed that consumers do not love everything about their email. 28% said that they are annoyed when you an email is long and you have to scroll to read the whole thing. 21% do not like to wait for images on their emails to load. 39% want less email, and 34 of the respondents even said that they created new email accounts in order to avoid spam.
