It can be tricky and confusing deciding where to purchase a piece of real estate as an investment. The market can change and with such a large purchase, you want to make sure you will make money. BiggerPockets just released its Real Estate Investment Market Index, ranking Miami as the third best city to invest in real estate.
Two other cities in the Sunshine State made the list: Tampa at number 6 and Orlando ranked 10.
Using criteria such as home purchase prices, appreciation and rental prices, BiggerPockets listed the 10 best cities for investment in 2015 – and also 10 cities where real estate investment may be a riskier bet.

1. Dallas: 19.5% return.
2. Denver: 18.9% return.
3. Miami: 18.6% return.
4. Houston: 18.5% return.
5. Atlanta: 16.5% return.
6. Tampa: 16.4% return.
7. Detroit: 16.2% return.
8. Austin, Texas: 15.6% return.
9. Las Vegas: 15.3% return.
10. Orlando: 14.9% return.
Not a single city in Florida made the list where real estate investment is riskiest, which was topped Hartford, Ct., Salt Lake City and Louisville, Ky. Other big, world class cities comparable to Miami, however, did make this list. Both New York City and Los Angeles were listed by BiggerPockets to be two of the riskiest cities to invest in.
