Among other interesting and quirky events we’ve seen or are coming this week for Art Basel are:
- At SoulCycle on Tuesday, artist Gregory Siff began painting a mural for the studio which opens permanently in January. “It’s all these people in the same room with the same fervor and passion to move forward,” the artist said.
- Art Basel also offers more than just traditional works. Fashion designers collaborate for the show each year. Yesterday, underwear in prints by New York artist Richard Phillips were unveiled at the Webster by the Eighth.
- One of this evening’s feature events is a film called Troublemakers – The Story of Land Art produced by James Crump. The 72 minute film is free to the public with limited outdoor seating under the stars. Art Basel’s website says, “Crump’s cinematic journey takes viewers on a thrill ride through the most significant land-art sites of the American southwest, while unveiling the enigmatic lives and careers of these storied artists.”
