For the first time since 2001, Florida topped the list of the Harris Survey when respondents were asked which state they would most like to move to. The survey polled 2,232 Americans between November 11 and 16. People evidently want sunshine and water, because California and Hawaii came in as two and three most desirable states. The Carolinas also were near the top of the list, along with Oregon and Washington. Besides these coastal states, Colorado and New York were a part of the top five.
The Harris Survey also found Americans’ most desired cities, with both Orlando and Miami in the top 10. We can see why, with both cities offering all the amenities of any top international city, along with warm tropical weather.
Florida did not just top this list with retirees. While most baby boomers aged 51 to 69 did say Florida was the most desirable state to them, Florida came in second with Millenials and Gen X Americans.
