Many home owners see now as a good time to sell. A recent survey by the real estate brokerage Redfin gives insight into why sellers sell. They found that fifty-two percent of homeowners said that they think now is a good time to sell. This is an increase from thirty-four percent who said that last year.
A lot of Americans believe we are currently in a “sellers” market. That means there is more power for sellers than buyers of home. According to Redfin’s survey, 58 percent of homeowners do believe sellers have more power than buyers right now. This is nearly a record high level of confidence that the researchers have ever seen.
These were the top five reasons sellers want to sell:
- A larger or nicer home: 40%
- Relocating to a new city: 24%
- Pull out my profit: 21%
- A smaller or less expensive home: 20%
- A change in family status: 19%
However, some sellers did report concerns about finding another home. They also worry about prices falling.
“While we’re noticing a shift among sellers in terms of their confidence in getting their homes sold quickly and for good prices, it’s up to the agent as their advocate to keep their expectations grounded and recommend a pricing strategy that is most likely to get the best value for their home,” says Sascha Gummersbach, a Redfin real estate agent in Atlanta. “A seller’s market doesn’t grant home owners a license to skip things like valuable upgrades, home staging or setting a price based on comparable homes in their neighborhood.”
After Redfin’s survey, it is now clearer why sellers sell. If you have a Miami home that you are ready to sell, take advantage of today’s market! At RE/MAX Paradise, we will guide you through the sale and help you find an amazing new home too.
