The cornerstone of Miami Art Week, Art Basel Miami Beach is an art fair that brings together 269 galleries from 29 countries to showcase works by upwards of 4,000 artists. More than 70,000 people will be drawn to Miami for the fair, held December 1-4, 2016.
While a lot of the action takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Art Basel is the fire that has ignited artistic events across Miami. Here are some of the events you won’t want to miss:

Miami Beach Convention Center Art Exhibits
December 1 | 3pm – 8pm
December 2 – 3 | 12pm – 8pm
December 4 | 12pm – 6pm
There are a lot of Art Week events going on around the city, but don’t miss out on the main Art Basel show! The Miami Beach Convention Center will be the central hub to the art fair, filled with artworks from around the globe. Art Basel’s carefully defined exhibition sectors can help guide you to different types of exhibits. Tickets are $50 for one day or $105 for all four days.
This piece of Art Basel Miami Beach combines art with nature by bringing 20 stunning installations to Collins Park. Take a stroll through the courtyard of the Bass Museum of Art and check out the amazing exhibits from renowned and emerging international artists. Film Screenings
December 2nd: 8:30pm – 10:30pm
The special screening of Maurizio Cattelan: Be Right Back (2016) by Maura Axelrod dives playfully into the life of the elusive Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. After the screening, there will be a discussion with director Maura Axelrod and Film curator Marian Masone. This event is free to the public, but space is limited.

Outdoor Screenings at SoundScape Park
December 1 – 3 | 6pm, 8pm, 10pm
The New World Center’s 7,000-square-foot projection wall designed by Frank Gehry will be holding outdoor screenings at SoundScape Park with what looks like very comfortable seating. Each day of Art Basel Miami Beach “Sound Works” will be shown at 6pm and the short film “Best Dressed Chicken in Town” will play at 8pm. The 10pm screenings vary each day.

Kendrick Lamar at Faena
December 1
Combining art with music, rapper Kendrick Lamar will be christening the Faena Art Dome along with artist Shanell Martin. Martin will sketch a mural influenced and inspired by Lamar’s performance during the show. Tickets are $65.

Madonna at Faena
December 2
You can get fancy for a good cause at Madonna’s special event at Art Basel Miami Beach, benefiting Raising Malawi. This “Evening of Art, Mischief and Music” will feature appearances by Ariana Grande, Sean Penn and Chris Rock. The highest bidders during the auction can walk away with the flapper dress from Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour, a private game of Texas Hold ‘em with Edward Norton and Jonah Hill, a visit to Malawi with Madonna, a week in Leonardo DeCaprio’s Palm Springs home, or a private evening with David Blaine, just to name a few. Tickets start at $5,000 and there are only 400 spots available.

Design Miami:

December 4 | 12pm – 6pmIn a location adjacent to the Miami Convention Center, Design Miami brings together influencers from around the world to celebrate design culture. There are panels and lectures, as well as unique exhibitions of furniture and lighting. “Occurring alongside the Art Basel fairs in Miami, USA each December and Basel, Switzerland each June, Design Miami/ has become the premier venue for collecting, exhibiting, discussing and creating collectible design.” Day tickets are $25, or $60 for a combination ticket to Design Miami and Art Basel.
