The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s recent labor market analysis provided good news about the Miami job market. Unemployment has dropped 0.3 percent and employers have added more jobs since the summer of 2012. Last month’s report also had positive results. The consecutive gains indicate that job growth is accelerating, and the economy is expected to continue to improve in 2014.
According to many economists, as the job market continues to improve, the housing market will do so as well. In Miami, the positive employment statistics may actually explain the recent surge in its housing market, and particularly the upswing of development projects in various parts of the city. The number of pre-construction condos continues to rise, especially in Brickell. If more Miami residents are finding employment, it makes sense that they will be seeking property near the business hubs in and around the Brickell area.
