The Miami tech scene keeps on growing! CodeNow is an amazing non-profit organization that provides technology training to underprivileged youth. The organization already trains students in New York, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, and this month CodeNow is coming to Miami. On June 14th, 15th, and 28th, CodeNow will be holding a coding workshop for Miami youth. The goal is to teach disadvantaged students about computer programming in a fun, hands-on way. Professional software engineers volunteer to lead these workshops.
Obviously, technology is a huge part of everyone’s lives these days. It is imperative for young students to be technologically proficient in order to succeed in just about any career. Even though Silicon Valley has dominated the tech scene for quite some time now, more and more tech start ups are cropping up in Miami. Miami’s international appeal and proximity to Latin America, where technology is also becoming an important sector, make it the perfect location for the booting of a Silicon Valley 2.0. Hopefully, by introducing local youth to technological possibilities the Miami tech scene will truly flourish.
Miami real estate already seems to be benefitting from the influx of businesses because commercial space is becoming harder to come by and more expensive to obtain. In addition, the demand for condos in the urban areas, where most businesses are located, has soared, which has caused prices to inch up as well. Fortunately, developers are continuing to complete and break ground on construction projects in the highly desirable neighborhoods, so the additional supply should keep things from getting out of hand.
We’re very pleased to see a thriving business community in the area, and it’s nice to have so many organizations, businesses, and individuals taking notice of Miami’s potential!
